ATC vs mini blade (ATM) fuse
Not interchangeable. Both are automotive blade fuses with the same color-coded amperage system, but different physical sizes. A mini blade will not make contact in a standard ATC socket and vice versa.
Side-by-side comparison
| Property | ATC (standard) | ATM (mini blade) |
|---|---|---|
| Height | 19.1 mm | 10.9 mm |
| Width | 18.0 mm | 11.0 mm |
| Blade spacing | 5.08 mm | 3.6 mm |
| Amperage range | 1–40 A | 2–30 A |
| Color code | Shared with ATM | Shared with ATC |
| Common vehicles | US vehicles, older models | Japanese/European brands, newer models |
Verdict
The two fuse types look similar and share the same color-to-amperage system, which causes frequent confusion at the parts counter. The critical test is physical — pick the fuse up and look at the blade spacing. If unsure, remove the blown fuse and take it to the store as a reference.
How to identify which is in your vehicle
- Open the fuse box cover — most covers have a diagram showing fuse type and amperage.
- Remove a known-good fuse and hold it next to a reference: standard ATC is about the size of a fingernail; mini is roughly half that.
- Vehicle owner's manual lists fuse specifications and often the fuse type in the index.
